Bar Graph
A bar graph is useful in showing information collected by counting.
They are similar to line graphs, except they use thick bars to show
the relationships among the data rather than data points.
Example:
George and Betty love watching pelicans and are hoping to see some
on their trip. They asked the Sprintsville Beach Chamber of Commerce
for information on how many pelicans had visited the beach during July
in the last three years. The Chamber sent its reply in a bar chart format:
Steps:
- The horizontal axis shows the items being compared using vertical
bars of uniform width.
- The vertical axis indicates the quantities by the heights of the
bars.
